Two Days National Workshop on Library Automation “Open Source Library Software KOHA and RFID System”
Inauguration of RFID System in Library, ICAR-IASRI and Two Days National Workshop on “Open Source Library Software KOHA and RFID; Training and Certification” was organized on May 31st-01st June, 2019 at ICAR-IASRI, New Delhi.
The major aim of this workshop was to discuss automation of library including Library Software KOHA and RFID System. Also, this workshop provided opportunities to the participants to deliberate on providing efficient library services to their users.
Dr. L.M. Bhar, Director, ICAR-IASRI and Dr. Anil Rai, Head CABin & Scientist Incharge Library, ICAR-IASRI and Dr. Seema Jaggi, Incharge TAC, ICAR-IASRI graced the occasion.
Dr. L.M. Bhar delivered the inaugural address and welcomed the participants. He also appreciated ICAR-IASRI for taking up the initiative for library automation and implementation of RFID System in the library. He emphasized that this automation will help in dissemination of knowledge to users at greater pace using latest technologies. He also emphasized that this workshop is very timely and is the need of the hour. Further, he pointed out that this is the first attempt by the institute to organize a National Workshop for library professionals.
Dr. Anil Rai, Head CABin and Scientist Incharge, Library in his address called for collaborative work to be carried out by the library professionals of ICAR in the area of library automation and sharing knowledge among libraries. He desired that a doable and implentable action plan needs to be prepared. He also emphasized that library automation solutions should be cost effective.
Dr. Seema Jaggi, Incharge, TAC proposed formal vote of thanks to the Director and participants of the workshop.
About 80 delegates, including staff from institutes, and library professionals from various ICAR institutes/SAU/AU participated and deliberated in this occasion.
